[노트펫] 헤어졌던 새끼와 재회한 어미 나무늘보는 할 수 있는 가장 빠른 속도로 녀석을 품에 안았다.

5일(이하 현지 시간) 미국 동물전문매체 퍼레이드펫츠(Paradepets)는 나무에서 떨어진 새끼 나무늘보를 병원에 데려가 진찰받게 한 후 어미에게 데려다준 사연을 소개했다.

코스타리카 만사니요 국립공원은 지난달 23일 공식 틱톡 계정에 "우리는 또 다른 멋진 엄마와 아기 나무늘보 동창회를 가졌다. 정말 훈훈한 일이었다"라는 설명과 함께 한 편의 영상을 게시했다.

We just had another wonderful mom and baby sloth reunion, and it was beyond heartwarming.  So, we went to the rescue of this adorable baby sloth at Playa Negra after it fell from a tree. We spotted the mom was up there, but she seemed a bit hesitant to come down. We brought the baby to our clinic for a checkup, and, luckily, the baby was perfectly healthy and ready to go back to its mom. The very next day, our team returned with our “Speaker Method” to catch mom’s attention. And guess what? It worked again! She started descending from the tree, eager to reunite. 공개된 영상 속에는 나무 위에 있던 어미 나무늘보가 새끼를 보자 내려와 품에 안은 모습이 담겼다. 새끼를 안고 흡족한 표정을 짓고 있는 어미 나무늘보의 모습이 눈길을 끈다.

코스타리카 만사니요 국립공원의 설명에 의하면, 코스타리카 구아나카스테주 해변 플라야 네그라 인근 나무에서 새끼 나무늘보가 추락하는 일이 생겼다.

국립공원 측은 어미가 근처에 있었지만 내려오기를 주저하는 걸 발견해 대신 문제를 해결하기로 했다.

그들은 새끼를 병원에 데려가 진찰받게 했고, 다행히 새끼는 아주 건강한 상태라 엄마에게 돌아갈 수 있었다.

다음날 새끼를 다시 데려가자 어미는 서둘러 나무에서 내려와 그들이 건네는 새끼를 건네받았다고 한다.

국립공원 측은 "말로 표현할 수 없을 만큼 감동적이었다"고 전했다.
